Born in the UK, in 1987 Sam Galer moved to Australia with his family. For a boy of 10, already interested in nature and the great outdoors, it was a dream come true.
With his keen observation skills and love of nature, Sam looks to capture the life and personality of his animal subjects. Sam works primarily from his own photographs, allowing him to have complete creative control and providing unique images that delight and amaze his clients.
Sam also has a love for portraiture, from a newborn baby portrait to iconic movie scenes. He looks to capture the light on his subject, leading to vibrant and engaging paintings. 'I'm inspired by artists like William Turner, the way he used light to dance across the canvas. While I'm no Turner, my best paintings happen when I can show the light of the subject effectively.
Predominantly self-taught, Sam is always seeking to improve his work and look for new techniques and approaches. It is this mindset that sees him tackling a range of challenges such as large-scale wall murals for his clients.
